Weather south easing
Christchurch 6.30pm:
Flood waters are beginning to recede as the rain eases in mid and South Canterbury but all key roads remain closed tonight.
Even once a state of emergency is lifted and our fleet is able to begin moving south of Christchurch again there’ll still be delays in deliveries and a backlog of pick-ups for us to plan for.
We expect a clearer picture tomorrow morning and will be posting an update here.
A graph from NIWA below shows the extent of the deluge, with some areas receiving several months’ worth of rain in the past two days.
Services north of Christchurch have been unaffected to date despite heavy rain and adverse conditions for our drivers.
