Our people work to make a difference in the many communities we operate in. As a large business we’re committed to the protection of the environment and responsible use of natural resources.
We’ve led the way with many initiatives over the years and have made a multi-million-dollar investment into building an advanced and modern fleet which helps reduce our carbon footprint and emissions.
Hall’s complies with all applicable environmental legislation and regulations. We recycle. We operate fuel-efficient vehicles. We track our electricity usage, vehicle tyre usage and distance efficiencies.

Our fleet strategy (which kicked off early 2022), covers all areas of the transport business - from the smaller Metro vehicles to the larger linehaul units - delivering Hall’s Group one of the most modern fleets and allowing us to take advantage of what is impressive new technology.
Advanced safety features of all our new units take driver protection and operational efficiency to the next level.
Our first eCanter hits the road
In 2022, Hall’s Group, along with the other eight companies, signed on to help the Christchurch City council achieve its goal of halving greenhouse gas emissions for the district by 2030.
The Fuso eCanter has a range of 100 - 150km on a single charge, depending on conditions. This truck services our metro deliveries in Christchurch as we trial performance and operational capability.
Furthermore, our new fleet, with the latest on-road technology, including vehicle emissions reductions, will set us apart as leaders in the industry.

2023 saw significant improvements across the Hall's fleet, alongside more reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and significantly reduced fuel consumption.
During our 2023 rollout plan, we’ve put new Scania and DAF tractor units on the road, all with EURO5 and EURO6 technology for emissions reductions. These units are geared for maximum driver comfort, feature industry-leading safety and braking technology and are kinder to the environment.
40 trailers were completely refurbished, including replacing existing fridges with our new Schmitz Cargobull multi-temperature option. These fridges are the very latest technology from Germany.
12 trailers had axle upgrades, featuring the latest axle technology and delivering greatly improved reliability.

Early September we took delivery of 20 Scania G560 Supers (8 x 4 trailer tractor units). This followed a previous delivery of 30 Scania V8’s earlier this year. This purchase helped Scania New Zealand record their highest volume of sales in one year to a single customer.
The G560 Supers represent the latest in fuel efficiency alongside the full suite of safety features.
With these new units, Hall's will continue our focus on road safety and help reduce carbon emissions within our industry.
We know there’s more we can do and are we dedicated to finding new ways to reduce environmental impact.
We work with our clients to reduce unnecessary packaging and support their introduction of environmentally-friendly packaging materials.
We also offer coastal and rail options which helps to drive lower carbon emissions across the chain.
