Delays in our South Island services

The state of emergency across the wider Canterbury region is having a significant impact on our services in the south.

Emergency powers are in place across the entire region from Kaikōura down into the MacKenzie and south of Waimate and there are local and state road closures with widespread surface flooding.

  • We currently have no units running south of Christchurch.

  • We were also unable to run any services south of the city yesterday

The big wet is forecast to continue until at least late this afternoon with Civil Defence authorities warning against any non-essential travel.

This means there will be no pick-ups south of Christchurch today.

Deliveries and pick-ups north of Christchurch to Blenheim and Nelson are running at this stage but there are alerts out for the Waimakariri, Hurunui, and Kaikōura districts so this may change at short notice.

We expect there will continue to be delays as we manage fleet utilisation and we will look to provide another update here before close of business.
