12.46pm
We would like to provide an updated overview of the conditions and service impacts expected across the network over the coming days. As we continue to monitor the evolving weather system, the following key impacts have been identified.
State of Emergency – Ōtorohanga District
A State of Emergency has been declared for the Ōtorohanga District due to widespread flooding, slips, and rising water levels.
This declaration follows extensive overnight impacts and ongoing severe weather across the region.
Bluebridge Ferry Cancellations
Bluebridge has advised that all sailings from tomorrow morning (Sunday, 15 February) have been cancelled due to severe marine weather conditions.
Wellington departures: Cancelled through to 2:00am, Tuesday 17 February
Picton departures: Cancelled through to 2:30am, Tuesday 17 February
These cancellations are expected to cause delays to inter island freight movements until services can safely resume. Our Operational Teams are actively working on contingency plans to support network stability and continuity.
Additional Network Considerations
Heavy rainfall continues to affect regional routes and further impacts may occur as the weather system progresses.
We will issue additional updates as conditions evolve.
Our Operational Teams remain closely engaged with partners and agencies across the network to minimise disruption and support service continuity.
