Network Update | Weather Alerts

We would like to make you aware of several events that may affect freight movements and service delivery across the region this weekend.

1. Severe Weather Impacts

A series of weather watches and warnings are currently in place across Aotearoa over the next 24–48 hours. MetService has issued multiple Orange and Yellow warnings, with a significant low‑pressure system expected to move across the country on Sunday and Monday.

The greatest impacts are forecast for eastern parts of the North Island and the upper South Island.

Our teams are actively monitoring conditions and will adjust operations as needed to ensure the safety of our people and minimise disruption.

2. Ferry Operations

While no ferry sailings have been cancelled at this stage, we have been advised that wave heights may exceed sailing thresholds.

We will continue to monitor updates from operators and will keep you informed of any changes.

3. SH1 Papakura–Drury Closure

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency has confirmed that all lanes of SH1 between Papakura and Drury will be closed in both directions from:

7:30pm Saturday – 9:30am Sunday

This 14‑hour closure is required to complete demolition works on the Bremner Road bridge as part of the SH1 Papakura–Drury improvement project.

Please expect delays and plan alternative routes where possible.

Our Operational Teams will be closely monitoring all conditions throughout the weekend to help minimise disruptions across the network.
