Cancelled ferry sailing impact

Operational issues have led to the cancellation of a crucial Cook Strait ferry sailing tonight and unfortunately this will lead to delivery delays for some customers heading into Easter.

Bluebridge have advised us that the 8.45pm sailing from Wellington to Picton will not be operating.

Our units which were headed south on the cancelled sailing have been booked onto a 2.15am crossing into Picton, but the 6-hour delay will disrupt our planned schedule.

Our teams are still assessing the best options, but the net effect:

  • All freight from the North Island travelling south tonight is unlikely to be delivered before Easter Saturday (where customers are open to receive it) or otherwise not until Tuesday 6 April.

  •  Freight from the South Island scheduled for delivery into the lower North Island tomorrow should now be expected on Easter Saturday (where customers are open to receive it) or it will be Tuesday 6 April.

Account managers and our operations support teams will do more tomorrow to update any affected customers.
