Cook Strait ferry delays
4pm Update
Cook Strait ferry services are now back in action after a threat which led police to hold and search two ferries berthed in Picton.
The incident has led to significant delays to sailings and but at this stage won’t have a major impact on our services. Bluebridge cancelled the 1.30pm sailing from Wellington to Picton, which means it won’t be able to operate the 7.15pm return voyage from Picton back to the capital.
Ferry operators are working through upcoming sailings to establish available capacity and our operational teams will contact our few affected customers directly.
11am Update
We are working to understand the impact of delays this morning to Cook Strait ferries after hold ups which related to threat police have received and are investigating.
Inter islander and Blue Bridge ferries berthed in Picton are being searched and another sailing on its way into Picton may also be caught up in the drama.
Any disruption to the sailing schedule is likely to lead to a subsequent delay in our ability to move freight to our planned schedule. Further updates will be provided here, as soon as we have them.
