WEATHER ISSUES IN THE SOUTH ISLAND

Transporting New Zealand have reported the following earlier today. Please be aware of potential network delays as a result.

Update 4:40pm: All inter-island network to Christchurch has been delayed due to road closures. This will result in a 24hr delay in delivery at this stage.

The Marlborough network has been particularly affected by the heavy rain:

  • SH1 Blenheim to Seddon – closed due to flooding.

  • SH63 Renwick to St Arnaud – closed due to flooding. FH Nelson team managing the road closure at the St Arnaud end.

  • SH6 near Okaramio, ie between Renwick and Rai Valley, is down to one lane but expected to close. We are sending a traffic management team to Rai Valley to assist the Marlborough NOC with a soft road closure.

Nelson Tasman State Highway network:

  • SH60 Takaka Hill has experienced a couple of slips, but they’ve either been cleared or are back behind the white edge line.

  • SH60 Riwaka, near the Riwaka- Kaiteriteri Road and Sandy Bay-Marahau Road intersections – surface flooding, caution is advised.

  • SH6 RS 150 southern side of Spooner’s Saddle – minor slips on the shoulder.

Surface flooding at the following locations, permanent or temporary signs in place, caution is advised:

  • SH6 Main Road Hope

  • SH6 RS170 near Quinney’s Bush

  • SH60 Appleby
