SH5 CLOSED DUE TO SERIOUS CRASH

We have been notified of a serious crash, reported at 9am this morning, resulting in the closure of State Highway 5 Napier-Taupo.

The Police Serious Crash Unit is at the crash site and the highway is expected to remain closed while its scene investigation is underway.

The Police have indicated so far that they don’t expect the road to reopen till sometime after 5pm today.

This road closure will impact our freight movement, as we have several units that use this road overnight and during the day. Affected customers will be contacted by our operations team.

The NZTA/Waka Kotahi website was updated at 4:06pm, advising that the road has been re-opened.
