FERRY CANCELLATIONS 7 JUNE

We wanted to alert you to possible network delays across the Cook Strait due to ferry cancellations.

According to Windy.com, the wind will start picking up from early morning tomorrow in the Cook Strait, reaching speeds of 36 knots and gusts up to 47 knots. During this time, the swell in the Strait is expected to build to 5.2 metres.

The South Island will also receive a considerable amount of snow in certain areas from this evening.

We have received confirmation from Bluebridge that the following sailings have been cancelled:

Saturday 7 June

  • Wellington to Picton (8:15am)

  • Picton to Wellington (2:00pm)

These specific cancellations do not currently impact our freight movement, however, should there be further cancellations over the weekend, these will result in network delays.

The Hall’s operations team will continue to monitor the situation and will be in contact with any impacted customers directly.

Update Monday 9 June (9:08am)

We received notification from Bluebridge on the following additional cancellations:

  • Wellington to Picton (8:30pm) Saturday

  • Picton to Wellington (2:30am) Sunday

  • Picton to Wellington (7:15pm) Sunday

  • Wellington to Picton (2:00am) Monday

Our operations teams have worked through the next best alternative to mitigate any impact where possible, however delays are expected.
