Customer Update: Lower South Island Weather and Road Conditions
Due to severe winter weather impacting parts of the lower South Island, a number of key transport routes are currently affected by snow, ice, flooding, slips and avalanche risks. These conditions may result in delays to freight collections and deliveries across the region.
Routes currently impacted include:
State Highway 94 (Te Anau to Milford Sound), which is closed between the Lower Hollyford Road intersection and Donne River due to avalanche risk.
State Highway 8 (Lindis Pass), where significant snowfall and hazardous driving conditions have been forecast, with restrictions and delays possible.
Crown Range Road (Queenstown to Wānaka), which has experienced heavy snow, chain requirements and periodic closures.
Glenorchy-Queenstown Road, which has been affected by slips, flooding and debris, resulting in closures and detours.
Parts of State Highway 6 between Makarora and Fox Glacier, where heavy rain and surface flooding have impacted travel.
Our team is actively monitoring conditions and working closely with drivers and road authorities to minimise disruption wherever possible. However, customers may experience delays to freight movements in Otago, Southland, Queenstown Lakes and surrounding areas while conditions remain challenging.
